About Guadalupe Street Coffee
Guadalupe Street Coffee is a community development project operated by BCFS’ Inner-City program. Located in the heart of San Antonio’s West Side -- where less than 3% of homes have a computer -- the coffee shop provides educational support opportunities for local students that are aimed at increasing school retention and enhancing youths’ likelihood of graduation.
Programs at the coffee shop include
• College-bound symposiums for high school students
• Business and organizational meetings
• School group classes, studying for TAKS tests, and similar events
• Constant computer use at the eight-station computer center
• Help with college and financial assistance applications
• Study Hour - with reduced rate beverages
• Art gallery space featuring local artists
• Other events (poetry readings, live music, etc.)
